Junior workers in Delta State may be warming up for an open confrontation with the managements of the state’s 25 local government areas over a retreat in South Africa.

Our correspondent learnt that the retreat billed to take place next week would cost N230m.

The beneficiaries of the programme are said to be the Heads of Personnel Management, who are now the acting chairmen of the councils. Others are the acting council treasurers, their wives, the leadership of the National Union of Local Government Employees and other members of executive.

But the President of the NULGE in Delta state, Mr David Ofoeyeno, refuted the claims, saying though the NULGE chairmen would make the trip, the cost was much less than alleged N230m.
