Some communities in Delta State of the Niger Delta region have petitioned President  Goodluck Jonathan over alleged irregularities by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) and Pan Ocean Oil Corporation of Nigeria in the construction  of the Amukpe-Escravos Pipeline Project (AEPP).

The communities, under the aegis of the Amalgamated Communities of Pan Ocean Amukpe-Escravos Pipeline Project, in a letter dated August 24, 2011, protested that the Joint Venture between the NNPC and its Joint Venture partner, Pan Ocean Oil Corporation of Nigeria was, “without due consideration to the host communities.”
