...‘Intelligence reports’ force N’Assembly security lockdown

Fresh indications emerged yesterday that the management of the National Assembly threw a security blanket over the Three Arms zone over receipt of “intelligence reports” that the dreaded Boko Haram sect had concluded plans to bomb the White House premises of the National Assembly.

The reports indicated that the National Assembly was next on the list after the bombing of the headquarters of the United Nations in Abuja last month.
According to the report, the next target after the NASS, would be the headquarters of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) located at the Central Business District (CBD), opposite Conoil and Total filling stations.
Consequent upon the report, NASS management fortified the security of the premises by inviting the anti-bomb unit of the police.

Security was beefed up yesterday as all vehicles entering the NASS premises were allowed to go in only after they were screened by the anti-bomb policemen stationed at the MOPOL Gate opposite the Federal Secretariat axis.
