- Eminent Nigerians, groups declare
•As IYC, NLC, PRONACO, YCE, others meet Jonathan
A group of eminent Nigerians under the aegis of the National Constitution Group (NCG) has declared that the introduction of suicide bombing in the country has reinforced the need to renegotiate the unity of Nigeria .
A statement by the NCG, which has as its members eminent economist, Dr Kalu Idika Kalu and other eminent Nigerians, including Mr Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Pro-National Conference (PRONACO), the Ijaw Youth Congress (IYC), the Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), among others, indicated that the recent dimension to insecurity in the land called for greater concern.
The statement, signed by the Media Coordinator of NCG, Mr Oluwabori Obaolorunfemi, quoted former Minister of Finance, Dr Kalu Idika Kalu, as saying that the group had concluded arrangements to engage the government on a road map in respect of restructuring in the light of the frightening dimension of suicide bombings in Nigeria .
The NCG, after its meeting in Port Harcourt , Rivers State , said that the Nigerian nation was in dire need of consensus which could only come from genuine effort at re-engineering.
