Shell Reopens Utorogu Gas Plant In Niger Delta
IBADAN, Nigeria -(Dow Jones)- Shell Petroleum Development Co. of Nigeria, or SPDC, said Friday that it has reopened the Utorogu Gas Plant in Nigeria's Niger Delta.

The plant was shut down Wednesday night following a leak on the Utorogu-UPS trunkline in Western Niger Delta. The line evacuates condensate from the gas plant.

SPDC spokesman Tony Okonedo said in a statement that the company has isolated the leak point for subsequent repair work.

The plant supplies gas for electricity generation in Nigeria and Shell said the plant is currently producing 270 million square feet a day of gas.

Investigation is being conducted to find out the cause of the leak, Okonedo said.

SPDC is an affiliate of Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSA).
