The Odimodi and Forcados communities in Brutu Local Government Area of Delta State are spoiling for war over the lingering court battle between them and an oil major which they alleged have claimed the lives of ten traditional chiefs and still counting.
Sources said the 13-year-old oil battle over settlement of commercial claims in the sums of N980million included the N450million demanded by the two communities as damages to their fishing creeks, lakes, ponds mangrove swamps, farm lands and economic trees; following a major oil spill on January 12, 1988 in the Idoho platform of Mobil producing Nigerian unlimited (MPNU).
