Note: The Court of Appeal tenders judgement on cases from election tribunals ... hence it is the final arbiter (not the Supreme Court) for election challenges to the April 2011 polls. A proposal to "promote" Salami to the Supreme Court a few months ago was halted when he declined to accept the elevation. Some believe the purpose was to place him on the sidelines. Now he has been suspended. Stay tuned.

NJC Suspends Salami
The President Court of Appeal, Hon Justice Ayo Salami was suspended at the Nigeria Judicial Council, NJC meeting today Thursday 18 Aug., 2011 for not having apologized to Hon. Justice Katsina-Alu CJN and NJC. The President of the court of Appeal, PCA is thus to be restrained from sitting as JCA and performing the administrative duties of PCA. The NJC issued a 2 paragraph statement informing of the suspension and saying they have informed President Goodluck Jonathan of the suspension.
