The Board of the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) has approved a budget of N19 billion to speed up action on the project which will boost electricity generation in the country, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), James Olotu who is supervising the project has said.
He said the communities hosting the project should give out portions of their land for the purpose of protecting the project.
Last week, Vice President Namadi Sambo said at the 13th Board meeting of the NIPP that the Board has ratified contracts aimed at speeding up the final stretch of the job.
The NIPP which is intended to add more than 5000MW of electricity into the national grid, has suffered dislocations in the past.
