Following the recent crisis situation that greeted most parts of Northern Nigeria , a group, the Movement for the Survival of Ijaw Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND), has called for the convocation of a Sovereign National Conference.
The Conference, according to MOSIEND, will enable all sections of the country to come together to discuss a way forward for Nigeria .
A statement signed by the Secretary of MOSIEND, Mr. Wilson Amai and made available to journalists in Yenagoa stated that the move for a sovereign national conference is divinely inspired and by the law of ‘Natural Justice’, it is the way forward for Nigeria .
“Since Nigeria is a multi ethnic, multi-religious and multi lingual country, hence there is the need to recognize the coalition of interest from the various groups through the convocation of a sovereign national conference”, MOSIEND stated.
The group added that in view of the prevailing socio political cum economic circumstances, including the security, unemployment, educational and developmental challenges facing the country, it will continue to clamour for the conference.
