N/Delta Ministry has failed – Akiefa
A Niger Delta activist, Mr. Frank Akiefa, weekend, said the Niger Delta Ministry has not lived up to expectation in terms of developing the long-neglected region despite the huge budget geared towards the development of the area.

Akiefa, who stated this in Warri, Delta State, said the Ministry was created following the outcry by the people to address the problems of underdevelopment of the region.

He said the Ministry has failed in its mandate as no tangible project had been commissioned in the Niger Delta region despite the huge natural resources available to it.

Akiefa noted that the
East West Road
dualisation, which cuts across Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Akwa Ibom states, was presently impassable as road users go through untold hardship.

Akiefa said the N6 billion skill acquisition centre located in Tuomo, Burutu council, had been abandoned, while the Minister was making noise about the project.

He called on President Goodluck Jonathan to intervene to ensure timely completion of projects and set up a presidential monitoring team to monitor projects in the region, as some of his ministers were working against his transformation agenda
