The Commander of the United States-Africa Command (AFRICOM) General Carter F. Ham said the US is prepared to train the Nigerian armed forces on how to tackle insurgency.
The military join task force was accused of using excessive force in handling militancy in the Niger Delta region and the Boko Haram unrest in Maiduguri .
General Ham said yesterday at a press briefing in Abuja there are ranges of options for the security agents to look at in handling civil strife so much so that innocent people are not affected.
He said the US is willing to conduct joint operations with Nigerian military on handling civil strife ‘if Nigeria wants.’
