THE IFAD/FGN Joint Supervision Mission for the Community-Based Natural Resources Management Programme (CBNRMP) has commended the Ondo State government for its “high level” commitment to the development of agriculture.
Chief Mike Ejemba, the leader of the team, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday that the state had been "exceptionally supportive’’ of IFAD programmes in the area of prompt payment of its counterpart funding.
Speaking after visiting the project sites, Ejemba said the team was satisfied with commitment of the government and the people of the area.
He said that the supervision was aimed at ensuring that funds obtained from IFAD were expended judiciously for the benefit of the people.
According to him, Ondo State and to some extent, Cross River, have benefited maximally from the programme due to the diligent payment of its counterpart funding, unlike the other participating states including Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo and Rivers.
