Maku said the Akure sub-station would cost  $19.02 million plus N1.57 billion in local contents, while that of  Olorunsogo was estimated at $15.12 million plus N1.26 billion in local contents.

The two projects each have a completion period of 24 months.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Power, Barth Nnaji, has lamented that out of the 6000 MWs installed capacity of power plants owned by the Federal Government, only 2100MWs is generated from the facilities.

Barth described the situation as unfortunate, noting that change was imminent.

“We cannot continue like this. We need to sell the plants so that we can restore the generating capacities and bring them back to normal. We also need to expand distribution,” he said.
