FG urged to create more states

ABUJA—A  Niger Delta activist, Chief Tunde Smooth, has called on the Federal Government to create more  states and discountenance  arguments in some quarters that every geographical  zone of the country had been settled with states.

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, Smooth said it was pathetic that former leaders who used their powers to impose states on some ethnic groups, could make such statements without considering the implications of what they did to fellow
Nigerians.

Highlighting some of the imperatives of state creation, which include bringing government closer to the people, in terms of provision of social amenities, creation of employment opportunities and settlement of cases of perceived ethnic inequalities,  he said the injustice done should be corrected.
