•Our operations go on despite peace in Borno - JTF
With lots of arrest of key members and aggressive mopping up of vestiges of Boko Haram in Borno state by the Joint Military Task Force (JTF), indications are rife that members of the Islamic sect may be close to making a final surrender, Sunday Tribune can report.
Commandants of different military units in Maiduguri who got the wind of eagerness of Boko Haram to lay down arms had communicated the cheering news to their respective troops during their usual early morning parades, even though they continued to sensitise the uniformed men never to relax in their operations.
Even at that, reports that Boko Haram members were planning to detonate bombs in strategic cities of the north by the end of last month as a way of celebrating the second anniversary of he death of its leader, Mohammed Yusuf, did not happen as no one even came out to foment trouble on the scheduled date.
