Efforts of the Federal Government to ensure adequate participation of Nigerians in the oil and gas sector received a boost, weekend, as 109 youths from the Niger Delta region left the country for skill acquisition training in oil and gas overseas.

Minister of State in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Hajia Zainab Ibrahim-Kuchi, who highlighted the importance of the skill acquisition programme to the Federal Government and the nation, noted that the government cannot afford to allow its youths waste away because of lack of education in certain areas crucial to the economy.

The youths are expected to spend three months in India to acquire different skills in oil and gas and affiliated industries after they had participated in a six-month training in Lagos.
