Yenagoa — President Goodluck Jonathan must not return to his country home in the Niger-Delta region at the end of his tenure if his administration fails to provide affordable education in the area, president of the Niger-Delta students' union has said.
Niger Delta Student's Union President, Genesis Jeremiah said there was no need for leaders to continue to cry about development in the region when the education sector had been left to suffer because many people are poor and cannot access even elementary education.
He said the fact that education is the bedrock of development means that the Niger-Delta can successfully transform its rich petroleum resources only when the knowledge to manage such is acquired through sound education.
