Nigeria: ACF - Ministerial Nominees Lack Credibility

Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has said that most of the ministerial nominees submitted by President Goodluck Jonathan to the Senate for confirmation are not credible to be Ministers of the Federal Republic, urging the Senate to reject such nominations.

ACF, in a communiqué at the end of its first Joint Board of Trustee (BOT) and National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Kaduna Thursday, said some of the nominees "cannot vouch for their personal integrity that is needed for the enormous task of delivery on the promise of the new transformational agenda against corrupt practices in the polity".

The communiqué which was signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the Forum, Anthony Sani, said since the Senate cannot defend the character of some of the ministerial nominees, they should not be allowed to become ministers, pointing out that the present government cannot afford to make former President, Olusegun Obasanjo's Geneva declaration come onto its own.
