Minimum Wage - Again, Labour Rejects FG's Offer

This Day
29 July 2011

Another nation-wide strike looms as the Federal Government and organised labour headed for a showdown following the refusal of labour to accept government's offer of wage increase for only officers in Grade Level 1- 6.

This is as labour accused the Federal Government of 'inviting anarchy' by repudiating an agreement it entered with labour, an act which it describes as a violation of the constitution.

At a press briefing jointly addressed by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Abuja yesterday, the two movements described the outcome of a meeting with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) as an attempt to intimidate Nigerian workers.
