Explosions Rock Maiduguri as Soldiers and Boko Haram Exchange Gun fire

Explosion and heavy gunfire rocked the northern Nigerian city of Maiduguri - a stronghold of the Islamist Boko Haram group. The militants threw an explosive device at a military patrol, wounding three officers, military officials said. Soldiers then engaged in running gun battles with the militants in the centre of Maiduguri.
The outlawed boko haram otherwise known as Ahlil Sunna Lil Dawa'ti as they want to be called also had a runing battle with the police yesterday morning within Bauchi metroplolis where the police raided their hideout and made some arrests and captured a large cache of ammunitions and wounded few of the members who are now being treated in the hospital.

Maiduguri Residents told Elombah.com the city is in lockdown, with residents staying indoors.
