El-Rufai: We’ll Resist Intimidation, Says Bakare

This Day
4 July 2011

Vice-presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the April general election, Pastor Tunde Bakare, Sunday said he and other members of the opposition would not be cowed by the weekend’s arrest of former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, saying enough was enough of “subtle intimidation”.

Also former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, has said the arrest of el-Rufai by operatives of the State Security Services (SSS) was a ploy by the security men and other sycophants to derail President Goodluck Jonathan from achieving his transformation programme.

El-Rufai was picked up by men of the SSS on Saturday while returning from London along with CPC presidential candidate, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), and Bakare upon landing at the airport.
