It must leave in all of us a deep consuming sense of loss that our leaders did not equip us with the tools we need to succeed in this 21st century and that long periods of Northern leadership of this country did not educate the North as much as it educated the South. Perhaps, we should all now agree that ethnicity, like “religion may inspire, it may even contain the ultimate truth, but whether by act of God, or in consequence of the simple laws of biology and physics it has never been an effective tool for running a successful State”.
