Palpable fear yesterday gripped traders and residents of the commercial city of Onitsha and  communities around Ogbunka in Orumba South Local Government Area following unconfirmed rumours that the Islamist sucide squad, the Boko Haram sect would hit targets in the State.

According to reports, the Boko Haram terrorists group which raised eyebrows nationwide with suicide attack at the Nigerian Police Headquarters have threatened to storm Onitsha , the commercial nerve-centre of Anambra State in continuation of their agitation against non-Islamist interest.

As a result of the rumour, people moved round with caution on the threat while many traders did not open their shops.

The presence of Boko Haram group was equally rumoured to have been felt around the  outskirts of Ogbunka, which descended on their neighbouring Owerre-Ezukala community shooting, killing and stealing.

About 21 suspects have been arrested and presently remanded at the Awka prison.
