You are insensitive to our plight -Group accuses N/Delta oil companies

A pressure group, Niger-Delta Indigenous Movement for Radical Change (NDIMRC), has decried the activities of multi-national oil companies for being insensitive to the plight of the people of the oil rich region.

The body, in a statement in Warri, Delta State, on Monday, a copy of which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune, carpeted the oil majors for doing everything to frustrate the implementation of the Local Content Act, as well as the determination of the former Petroleum Minister, Mrs Diezani Alison–Madueke, to see that the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), which had been stalling in the National Assembly, was passed.

“We want to make it very clear to the multi-national oil companies that we are aware of their move against the reappointment of the former Petroleum Minister, Mrs Diezani Alison–Madueke, who worked very hard in the ministry. She is a patriotic daughter of the oil-rich Niger-Delta region and we will not sit down and watch the oil majors that do not have the interest of the region at heart standing against her in making the ministerial list,” the group wrote.
