South South Governors Seal Deal on Regional Development

Port Harcourt — All the six South South Governors have resolved to implement projects that would impact positively on the region, long degraded and neglected in the 53 years of the exploration of oil which provides 95 per cent of federal income.

For starters, they have called on Abuja to construct a coastal railway from Calabar to Epe in Lagos, and to complete the
East-West Road
scheme.

BRACED (Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo, and Delta) Governors' Council met in Port Harcourt on Tuesday and emphasised the need to dialogue with Aso Rock and others in the corridors of federal power as well as all the states connecting the East-West Road to ensure the development of a rail system that is sustainable and profitable to investors.
