Niger Gov Agrees to Trim Cabinet

Niger State Governor, Dr. Mua'zu Aliyu, may have succumbed to pressure and advice from the public to trim the size of his cabinet, and to save cost just as he has hinted that it (cabinet) will be "smaller but highly efficient" in order to reduce redundancy but promote productivity."

Aliyu said this while receiving the presentation of report of his campaign team-"Talba Twice" insisting that with his next cabinet in place "the era of redundancy would be over and only qualified people who have something to offer would be appointed."

The governor said at a function last year that his administration spent about N1.4 billion as monthly salaries out of the less than N2b accruing to the state from the Federation Account
