MEND says set to attack ENI
The militant group, Movement for the
Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), which recently issued an oil
attack threat, said it would begin its planned series of attacks with ENI, the Italian oil
giant, which operates in Nigeria as National Agip Oil Company (NAOC)
Limited. Although MEND did not reveal when it would launch its
planned attacks, it said its fighters were bracing up for a showdown
against the oil company, which witnessed grave destructions of its
facilities in mid-2009, before the Federal Government came with its
amnesty offer to militants in the Niger Delta.
