African Examiner
12 June 2011

Worried by the incessant killings in Borno state allegedly being carried out by the
Boko Haram sect, the Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Kashim Shettima has assured that Boko Haram and its menace would be over in the next one year.

The Governor who gave this assurance in Abuja when he visited the Headquarters of Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) lamented that “Boko Haram in the North East can be traced to issues of illiteracy and poverty.

I want to assure the leadership of the commission that there is a change in the baton of leadership in the state and we are poised to really approach headlong, the myriad of problems confronting us as a people, Boko Haram inclusive.
