Boko Haram again!…Bombs Catholic church, epidemiological centre

Maiduguri, the Borno State capital was thrown into confusion on Thursday as fresh bomb blasts hit the state unit for disease control (epidemiological centre) and a Catholic cathederal located in the heart of the city.
The first blast occurred on Wednesday night at about 7.30 pm. It was gathered that the epidemiological centre, which served as the biggest store for disease control in the state went up in flames as soon as the blast occurred.

Daily Sun gathered that the men of the state security joint task force, codenamed Operation Flush, were immediately deployed in the area to forestall further breakdown of law. A police source said the fire service men could not be drafted to the scene due to the security situation in the city. A shopping centre and a house located behind the epidemiological centre were also burnt. The shop owner, Mohammed Mustapha, said he lost goods worth about N25 million, adding that he had just received delivery of goods such as Arabian carpets, praying mats, detachable upholstery, among others.
