'Amnesty Yet to Achieve Its Objectives'
Hon. Godday Alemhen Erumhusele is community leader, businessman and former party leader in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but now member of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Edo State. He spoke recently with Acting Bureau Chief Francis Onoiribholo in Benin on issues concerning the Niger Delta, amnesty programme, and the ongoing development projects of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s government in Edo. Excerpts:

++++

What I will like to suggest is that there should be a holistic approach, so the entire people of the Niger Delta will benefit from the amnesty package. First, one would have expected that while the youths undergo training in and outside Nigeria, there would be visibility of all kinds of earth moving machine in all nooks and crannies of the oil producing communities. This should be carrying out construction of roads, houses, hospitals, schools, markets, among others. Besides, there should also be a programme of action to prepare a place for all these boys now in training. This is so that as soon as they complete their training, they would be immediately absorbed into national development projects.
