ABUJA, May 19, (THEWILL) - After over 10 years of stalling the Senate today finally caved in to renewed public pressure to pass the highly sought after National Health Bill.

The effort came barely 24hrs after market women and public health activists besieged the National Assembly complex in protest over the delay.

However, Senate President, Senator David Mark warned after the passage that the upper chamber did not pass the bill because of any public pressure.

“It is an important bill, it is true that it has taken a while but we were able to pass it. Anything that has to do with health has to pass through rigorous scrutiny. We did not pass the bill because people were protesting yesterday; we are only doing our work.
