interview

Chief Michael Johnny is a human rights activist from Gbaramatu kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State. The Warri-based businessman in this interview with SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT Sunday Apah, examines the polls in the country, the amnesty programme, among other issues.

Excerpts:

What is your comment on the amnesty granted to Niger Delta militants; now many of them are undergoing reform through good schools and participating in various vocational programmes?

It is a welcome development and a way to having a peaceful Niger Delta. My angst is however at the handling of it. Though I am not a part of it, I think a lot more needs to be done.
