The management of an Indian firm, ABG Shipyard, has began talks with the Federal Government with a view to setting up a shipbuilding yard in the country.
Though the exact location of the shipyard is yet to be chosen and approved, impeccable sources in the Presidency told THISDAY that two coastal towns in the oil and gas rich Niger Delta region and another one in Lagos are top on the list of sites earmarked for the multi-billion naira project.
Those close to the promoters of the project said if it is successfully executed, it would support Nigeria 's quest to be a maritime hub in the African content, besides servicing her neighbours in the West and Central Africa sub-regions.
