The 2011 International Oil and Gas Conference is to hold in Port Harcourt from June 22 to June 23, Mr Tonie Egobueze, the Secretary of the organising committee, said.
The conference, being organised by the Oil and Gas Committee of the Rivers State House of Assembly, had earlier been fixed for May 17 and May 18.

Egobueze said that about six chief executive officers of oil and gas major companies from France , China , Switzerland and America were expected to attend the convocation.

Egobueze said the conference would discuss ways of buying into the Nigeria Content Act and suggest ways of dealing with insurgency and investment flight in the Niger Delta region.
He said the confidence of participants was rooted in the acceptance of the amnesty programme of the Federal Government by the former militants in the Niger Delta.
The secretary explained that the conference with the theme, "The Oil and Gas Industry in Nigeria : Strategies for Sustainable Development", would be chaired by Mr Ledum Mitee, President of the defunct Technical Committee on the Niger Delta.
Egobueze also said that Mr Mutiu Sumonu, the Managing Director, Shell Petroleum Development Company, would present a paper on the "Institutional constraints and prospects of oil and gas in Nigeria ...
