Port Harcourt — Despite the widespread condemnation trailing the in-fighting within officials of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), two youth groups, Watch Dog of Niger Delta, and Niger Delta Peace Movement have commended the commission on job creation and projects' implementation in the region.
The groups in Port Harcourt , Rivers State , passed a vote of "excellence" on the NDDC Managing Director, Mr. Chibuzor Ugwoha, for his leadership quality in the commission which has brought about many projects and programmes being initiated in communities across the nine states that make up the commission."
The Niger Delta youth groups however condemned the call for the removal of the secretary to the Federal Government, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, and the Head of Due Process in the NDDC, Kaltungo Mojiego, over their complicity in the award of contracts, describing it as unfortunate.
They rather stressed that Alhaji Ahmed who is a non-Niger Delta indigene should be commended for supporting the Federal Government's determination to bring about rapid development in the region, including his support for the amnesty programme, adding that the NDDC boss and his team have shown commitment in the discharge of their duties.
