The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday denied any plan to impose sanctions on the trio of its former Presidential aspirants, Ibrahim Babangida, Aliyu Gusau and Atiku Abubakar, over alleged anti-party activities. The party in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Ahmed Rufai Alkali, said stories making the rounds that the party has met and taken a decision to punish them for not giving their support to the candidacy of President Goodluck Jonathan in the just-concluded presidential election, which Jonathan won, was a big lie. It would be recalled that Gusau stepped down for Atiku as instructed by the Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF) before the party’s primary, which Jonathan won.
