The Nigerian Red Cross has reported that mass burials have been held in rural villages today Northern Nigeria . This follows post-election violence where mostly Northern Muslims in some areas insist that the vote was rigged. Armed supporters of former military ruler and main opposition candidate Muhammadu Buhari went through the streets chanting his name. More than 40 000 people have been displaced in the North. At least 11 recent college graduates who helped run polling stations as part of the country's national youth service corps have been killed in post-election violence in northern Nigeria and other female poll workers have been raped, police said Sunday.
President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday asked the Northern Political Summit Group, also known as G-20, to drive development in the northern part of the country.
