Less than 72 hours to the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections, anxiety and intrigues have continued to mount across the states where the exercise would take place come April 26.

Though the candidates had long ended their open electioneering campaigns in accordance with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) guidelines, Sunday Independent can confirm that last minute behind-the-scene maneuovres have long taken the centre stage, with most of the desperate governors resorting to the unusual that will give them an edge over the contest.

For instance, the air of uncertainty that has pervaded most states in the country is forcing some governors to embark on aggressive mobilisation of supporters as well as introducing several tactics in a bid to stay on top.

Sunday Independent learnt that serious apprehension has not only enveloped most Government Houses across the country, but the place in the last one week has become Mecca of all sorts because of the beehive of activities therein.

The situation is even made worse due to the pattern of voting in the last two elections which makes the electorate more unpredictable.
