.IN order to demonstrate the readiness of the Police to ensure free and fair elections in April, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Hafiz Ringim, yesterday announced the posting of all state commissioners of police (CPs) to new states for the elections which commence tomorrow just as the Police authorities deny allegation of plans to use the police boss to rig the elections.
A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olusola Amore, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), showed that the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have new commissioners of police.
The statement read: “The Inspector-General of Police, Hafiz Abubakar Ringim, NPM, mni, has ordered with immediate effect the posting of Commissioners of Police (CPs) to State Commands against their names.
The posting is to position the Commissioners of Police for effective performance of their duties during the forthcoming general elections.
