A call for the arrest of General Muhammadu Buhari by the President of Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor has been described as "totally misguided" and "a reckless abuse of the office of the President of Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) for a purely political consultancy for Aso Rock" by the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Presidential flag-bearer.
Following the wave of post-presidential violent protest and destruction of lives and property in some parts of the North, CAN National President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of former head of state and presidential standard bearer of the Congress for Progressive Change, General Muhammadu Buhari and all identified cohorts before they plunge the nation into another civil war.

Addressing newsmen at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos yesterday, Pastor Oritsejafor warned that the much desired quest for a united Nigeria would remain a mirage if the nation continued to allow persons fanning the embers of disunity to roam the streets of the country.

But in a press statement signed by Yinka Odumakin, Gen.Buhari's Spokesman and made available to elombah.com, General Buhari said "It is unfortunate that he has chosen the Easter day, when most Christian leaders were espousing the message of love which the risen Christ symbolises, to make a satanic call capable of only pouring gasoline into a burning flame which casts him in the mould of a PDP goon rather than a responsible faith leader whose words at the moment should be of healing and reconciliation".
