The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) have rejected plans by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct the rescheduled National Assembly elections tomorrow. Both Buhari and the ACN prefer the rescheduled elections to be held the same day with the presidential elections on Saturday April 9.
Speaking through his spokesperson, Yinka Odumakin, the CPC flag bearer said the rescheduled date is not convenient for opposition parties in the country.
“The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has more than 24 governors across the country, so they have huge resources at their disposal to mobilize for the polls in the next 48 hours,” he said. Buhari also opined that even INEC will have more time to take care of whatever loopholes it encountered yesterday.
“We are suggesting April 9 for the rescheduled NASS polls so that it takes place the same day the presidential elections would hold. This will enable INEC to prepare better as well as save time and resources,” Buhari said.
