PDP thugs waylay Kalu’s campaign train

The ugly trend of election violence reared its head again at Item in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State when some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) thugs tried to stop the campaign train of the former governor of the state Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu from going into the town to campaign.
Kalu is now the Peoples Progressive Alliance (PPA) candidate for Abia North Senatorial district for the April election.

Exactly two weeks ago, explosion rocked a PPA rally organised by younger brother of the former governor and member, representing Aba North and South in the House of Representatives, Chief Nnanna Uzor Kalu, in Aba, the commercial hub of the state. Some people were injured during the incident.

The thugs who had already blocked portions of the road leading to Item, however, withdrew from their evil action when Kalu stepped out of his car and the battle ready youths, on seeing the man they were detailed to deal with, started hailing him and calling him, patron, leader, among other endearing names.
The youths informed Kalu that words from Umuahia had it that a man was coming to Item on that day to destabilise the town and that they should do everything possible to stop that man and his team from entering the town, not knowing the person was Kalu.
