ABUJA (AFP) – Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan addressed thousands Saturday at a major rally two weeks before polls, pledging "transformation" for Africa's most populous nation and largest oil producer.

The rally in the capital was billed as the wrap up of a nationwide tour that Jonathan embarked upon in February, and the party bused in supporters from across the country.

In his speech, Jonathan condemned violence, with Nigeria hit by a series of bombings and other attacks in recent months, while pledging to fight corruption as well as improve education and the country's woeful infrastructure, especially its sporadic power supply.

"Our people want leaders that are more concerned about their well-being," Jonathan told the crowd. "Vote for transformation. Vote for unity, equity and justice."
