Nigeria To Do ‘Everything’ For UN-backed Action Against Gbagbo, Says Envoy

DETERMINED to build a global and concerted front on the Ivorien crisis, Nigeria has opened what looks like a tough diplomatic mobilisation of United Nations Security Council members to support ECOWAS’ decision to facilitate transfer of power in Ivory Coast to President-elect Alassane Quattara from defeated incumbent, Laurent Gbagbo.
According to Nigeria’s Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the United Nations, Prof. U. Joy Ogwu, “everything will be done to meet ECOWAS aspirations,” at the UN Security Council.
