Nigeria: Elections - Commonwealth Observers Express Concern Over Violence
Benin/Abuja/Lagos — Commonwealth election observers arrived Nigeria on Saturday and quickly picked up the national concern on Monday that violence, from Kano to Uyo, may make nonsense of anticipated free and fair ballot in Africa's most populous country.

Apart from its oil, and its citizens living in every country on earth, Nigeria is a beacon to all and sundry because it is the six largest democracy in the world, after India, the United States, Indonesia, Brazil, and Pakistan.

This fact was cited by Commonwealth Observer Group (COG) Chairman and former Botswana President, Festus Mogae, who urged Nigerian politicians to exercise restraint, expressing surprise at the political immaturity in Nigeria which other African countries look up to in all spheres of life.
