Nigeria: Call Jimoh Ibrahim to Order, Ondo Urges Presidency

Akure — There was a serious drama at the Akure International Airport on Wednesday as billionaire businessman and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jimoh Ibrahim, vowed to burn down Ondo State and make it ungovernable for the state governor in weeks to come.

But the government in a sharp reaction, urged the Presidency to call him to order, before his utterances would lead to unnecessary conflagration in the state.

Trouble started when the State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, was at the airport to be airlifted by a chopper for the campaign tour of Okitipupa and Ilaje local government areas ahead Saturday's election.

He met Ibrahim's private jet with Number N605 with the inscription of his company, Global Fleet, on the tarmac.

Shortly after, Ibrahim led over 10 people out of the flight, including Ambassador Olu Agbi, Jones Akinyugha, a member of the House of Representatives representing Idanre Ifedore Federal Constituency (PDP), his Ondo East/Ondo West counterpart, Dr Tayo Fawehinmi, Chairman of the PDP in the state, Dr Tayo Dairo, Col Bade Omowa (rtd), Ademola Adegoroye and other officials of the state PDP.

Mimiko promptly moved to the group and exchanged pleasantries with them, but Ibrahim distanced himself and refused to shake hands with the governor.

When Mimiko moved to him, he pointed angrily at his face and bellowed: "Look, I'm not interested in your greetings.

"I will ensure that we burn Ondo State down and burn you with it. Yes, you may be the governor. We may not be able to milk the cow, but we can spill the milk.

"I said my own, and I will deal with you and your bunch of rabble rousers. Yes, I will make this state ungovernable for you; just wait."
