FG Begins Online Monitoring of Crude Production

This Day
8 March 2011

Lagos — The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has begun the implementation of the National Production Monitoring System (NPMS) to determine the exact volume of crude oil production and exports.

The NPMS would provide an online platform to accurately monitor national crude oil production and exports at land terminal and Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessels (FPSOs).

A top official of the agency who confirmed the development to THISDAY at the weekend said the NPMS would provide a rapid and efficient electronic data collection, database and reporting system to replace the old paper report. This, he said, was achieved by implementing the electronic data transmission at export terminal onshore and offshore by DPR personnel, as well as at the offices of various operators.
