Conduct tribunal gets new boss

Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu yesterday swore in Danladi Yakubu Umar as the new Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

He was the only member of the CCT after the death of the former Chairman, late Muritala Sanni (SAN).

Umar will oversee the activities of the tribunal which prosecute public office holders and politicians accused of false declaration of asset.

A source told The Nation last night that the swearing in  which took place at the Supreme Court, Abuja, was devoid of usual fanfare associated with such ceremony.

Only a few official of the CCT witnessed the event.

Even reporters that covered the Sokoto State Governorship Election case were not aware of the time the event took place
