President Goodluck Jonathan’s kins-men under the auspices of Ijaw National Congress (INC), on Thursday, dissociated themselves from the threat by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) to disrupt the April polls.
MEND recently cautioned the public about political gatherings, alleging government’s insensitivity to the plight of Niger Deltans and what it perceives as the unwillingness of the government of President Jonathan to prosecute a workable, durable plan of action to address the situation.
While addressing journalists in Abuja, the acting president of INC, Chief Ebiakpo Benamaisia, stated that, “the issue of MEND has gone to rest after the amnesty programme” adding that the security agencies should take on any group parading as MEND.
