2011: We’re committed to credible polls – JTF

The Joint Military Task Force (JTF) has reiterated its commitment to ensure that there is a credible 2011 election in the Niger Delta region. The new Commander of the security outfit, Major General Johnson Ochoga, who took over from Major General Charles Osas Omoriege stated this when he visited the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre in Yenagoa said the JTF would collaborate with the police to ensure smooth elections in the region.

According to him, the commitment of the military to a peaceful election was indisputable, adding that while it was the duty of the police to provide internal security, the military would always be available to provide any security that would guarantee free, fair and credible elections
